Their Work to provide continuing Education and Engage the community

National NeighborWoods® Month

Southampton's Shade Tree Commission
organized the town’s first
NeighborWoods® Month
celebration in 2015.
A local Certified Tree Expert and Arborist gave a 45 minute presentation, followed by a 45 minute outdoor demonstration on root collar disorders in the landscape in October 2015. In addition, handouts on tree care and tree-tublings were distributed to attendees.

Arbor Day

The Commission helps organize the Township’s Arbor
Day celebrations at the school. This includes purchasing tree tube-seedlings for distribution at the celebration, arranging handouts on how to plant the tublings, and securing donations for large trees to planted during the ceremony.

Publicity Campaign

A publicity campaign for tree care and community forestry was initiated in 2013 by the Commission. Tree planting and education events have helped draw attention to Southampton's Community Forestry Program. A Shade Tree Commission webpage, with a wealth of information prepared by the Commission, was launched on the Township's website.

We Would Love to Have your help! Please reach out to help get the word out!

Please note: we do not accept donations.
